Objectives

NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) provides students with the knowledge and experience they need to succeed in their chosen field of study and is designed to match the standards of NCUK universities.

The major aims of the programme are:

To deliver a superior pre-undergraduate education to overseas students, with results comparable with GCE A levels.
To prepare students for undergraduate study in English-speaking universities without the need for additional English language proficiency testing, to confirm a student’s academic English language abilities in a way that NCUK partner universities will accept.
To build the knowledge, learning strategies, and related skills necessary for successful undergraduate study at an NCUK partner university.

Entry Requirements

Matriculation

– Successful completion with Pass grades (over 50%) in all subjects.

IGCSE OLevels

– Successful completion of 5 modules with grades of CCCCC (to normally include Maths and English).

General Education Development Tests (GED)

– Successful completion of each of the four tests with a mark of 145 or more in each test.

US High School

– Successful completion including good passes in Maths for Engineering related progression. This includes students who are studying in a US school system overseas. Such students would not normally be required to provide evidence of English language level.

Diploma AS Level

– 2 E Grades from a UK A-Level board.

A Level

– One E Grade from a UK A-Level board.

Ontario - Ontario Secondary School Diploma

– Successful completion of Year 11 with pass grades (50% or above) in all subjects.

(OSSD) English Entry Requirement

– IELTS 5.0 (or) PTE English (or) Duolingo (or) NCUK Replacement English Test.

Being the NCUK Study Centre, Acumen International College can also access your English Language level through the Placement Test at the campus if you don’t have a recognized English language certificate.

Subjects

With the International Foundation Year, you can progress onto more than 9,000+ degree subjects at top-ranked universities worldwide. Like A-Levels, you can choose three academic subjects from the list above depending on which degree you want to study at the university of your choice. You will also study the compulsory, English for Academic Purposes module, which gives you the academic English language skills needed for university.
