Objectives
NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) provides students with the knowledge and experience they need to succeed in their chosen field of study and is designed to match the standards of NCUK universities.
The major aims of the programmes are:
- to deliver a superior pre-undergraduate education to overseas students, with results comparable with GCE A levels.
- to prepare students for undergraduate study in English-speaking universities without the need for additional English language proficiency testing, to confirm a student’s academic English language abilities in a way that NCUK partner universities will accept.
- to build the knowledge, learning strategies, and related skills necessary for successful undergraduate study at an NCUK partner university.

Subjects
With the International Foundation Year, you can progress onto more than 9,000+ degree subjects at top-ranked universities worldwide. Like A-Levels, you can choose three academic subjects from the list above depending on which degree you want to study at the university of your choice. You will also study the compulsory, English for Academic Purposes module, which gives you the academic English language skills needed for university.
