The International Year One allows you to study the first year of an undergraduate degree at Acumen International College, and progress directly into Year 2 of a degree at university.

Objectives

NCUK International Year One (IYOne) provides students with the know ledge and experience they need to succeed in their chosen field of study and is designed to match the standards of NCUK universities.

The major aims of the programmes are:

To provide students w ith a know ledge of business concepts and applications at first year undergraduate level (FHEQ Level 4).
To prepare students for progression to second year (FHEQ Level 5) undergraduate study in business or related disciplines in NCUK partner universities.
To enhance the subject know ledge, learning skills and English language proficiency of students to enable them to communicate and study business and related subjects effectively and confidently at undergraduate level in a UK or other university w here English is the medium of instruction.
To cultivate a commitment to good practice in academic w ork, and in particular an aw areness of the serious adverse implications of plagiarism and other areas of academic malpractice.
To provide students w ith the necessary personal and key skills to enable them to develop as independent autonomous learners.
To give students experience of different approaches to teaching and learning and to the methods that are used to assess learning.

Entry Requirements

If you have already completed NCUK’s International Foundation Year or alternative qualifications such as A-level, as well as an English language level of the IELTS 5.5 or equivalent, then you w ill be eligible to s tudy the International Year One. A full list of entry requirements can be found as below.

NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY)

– Students must achieve tw o D grades in the NCUK IFY; grades must include a minimum of grade D in each of Mathematics and Physics for Engineering routes and a D in Maths for Accounting & Finance routes.

A Level

– Two D Grades from a UK A-Level board

OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma)

– Successful completion – if awarded at advanced level with six Grade 12 U U/C or M courses including grade 12 U English.

International Baccalaureate

– Successful completion with a minimum of 24 points (and award of the full Diploma).

ABE Level5 Diploma in Business Management

– Successful completion with an overall Pass grade.

NCC Education Level 3 International Foundation Diploma

– Successful completion with an average mark of 50% or more.

Global Assessment Certificate (GAC)

– Successful completion with a GPA of 2.0 or more.

English Entry Requirement

– IELTS 5.0 (or) PTE English (or) Duolingo (or) NCUK EAP

Subjects

With the International Foundation Year, you can progress onto more than 9,000+ degree subjec ts at top-ranked universities worldwide. Like A-Levels, you can choose three academic subjects from the list above depending on which degree you want to study at the university of your choice. You will also study the compulsory, English for Academic Purposes module, which gives you the academic English language skills needed for university.
